Poppa Tart Blogs

So after a couple months of badgering, Mom has finally convinced Dad to try this "blog" thing. It happens to come at a perfect time, as Ella has had a busy couple of days, mostly revolving around Dad's favorite thing: Food!

First, though, Ella got a present. We decided to cash in some of our Pampers Points for a toy flower pot, which arrived on Monday. In case you're wondering what $800 worth of diapers can get you, the answer is...

...a box.

Then, yesterday, Ella went blueberry picking with her Mom. She tried very hard to put lots of things in her mouth. Not blueberries, but grass, leaves, dirt, you name it. She did not like it when Mom took the grass, leaves, and dirt away.

Once they got home, Ella helped Mom make blueberry muffins (and by "helped", I mean "napped").

Today, Mom gave Ella apples, which Ella ate (mostly by accident).

Ella still doesn't seem to quite understand solid food. She understands putting things in her mouth, and she loves spoons, but food is something else entirely. We assume that this is normal, that she'll eat when she wants to eat, that she just needs to get used to putting solid food into her mouth and swallowing. We try not to think, should we have started sooner? Should we be trying different food? Are we doing something wrong? But sometimes, we can't help ourselves.

Doubts are normal for parents, or so I've been led to believe and choose to think. Fortunately for us, Ella's smile can erase any doubt from our mind, and then comes that rare moment that reminds Dad how lucky he is, to have his two wonderful girls, one to buy him donuts, and the other to...well, take a look:

Ella's expression in the photo where she is in the grass is priceless! As Oscar would say, "What a sketch!"
