An Easter Ella

We have been busy getting ready for Ella's second Easter. We have been on a mad hunt to find an Easter bunny that Ella will like to have her picture taken with. So far we have struck out two times. The first was when our local candy store closed unexpectedly (and permanently) the day the Easter Bunny was to make his visit. So we trucked over to the other candy store and Ella wasn't quite sure of the big furry guy. She liked looking into his basket at first...

But then she clung to her dad very tightly when it came time for a closer look.

So we thought we'd start out a little slower - a long distance view at the big guy during Ella's very first (drumroll please) Easter egg hunt! And hunt she did. Each year the local wildlife sanctuary hides 5,000 brightly colored eggs throughout their 72 acres of paths (luckily they have a short bunny trail for the littlest of hunters). Ella was ready! She had her pail, her bunny shirt, and a plan.

Ella and her friend Lilli were off...

When she saw an egg, Mom would help lead her to it, but then Ella knew exactly what to do. She scooped it up and immediately plopped the egg into the bucket. Here is an action shot as the egg drops down.

She was ready for more... she loved wandering the woods and looking for pinks and purples. She even got to take a look at some really big eggs in a really big basket too.

The sanctuary only allows two eggs per child, so we put some back and here was Ella's taking. Two very good looking eggs!

Of course the whole weekend couldn't be just about eggs and bunnies, so we went out for a nice lunch with Dad, and got to see some fishies...

We also found an indoor tag sale (Mom was so excited!) and we found a real deal... Ella's very first chance at her own business - a real Italian market - hanging sausage and all.

But mostly the weekend was spent playing, smiling, and having fun. Ella invited her friend Max over for dinner and the two played and ran around the house. Plus they did lots of CLIMBING - Ella's new favorite thing to do - on whatever she can find. Each day gets better and better!

Between getting a house and a new business it seems like the goober is growing up quite fast and i must agree those were some sharp lookin' eggs. I miss you Ella.
